What is Emotional Health?
Our emotional health and wellbeing are integral and vital parts of our internal navigation system. Our emotions tell us where we are in a relationship with our true self and our soul’s purpose. We are currently experiencing a huge transition and people are becoming increasingly tired of incessant consumerism.
A more holistic understanding of the world and our experiences has led to an enormous realisation. It is now recognised that joy, happiness, inner satisfaction, and peace are not only real but are most definitely worth pursuing.
While bills need to be paid and life’s daily grind continues, dealing with our emotions can sometimes seem like a burden or a luxury we can’t afford. How do we even start to address them?
Many people avoid examining their emotional well-being until life throws a curveball in the form of an untimely crisis. When we choose to focus on our emotional health, it can be confronting, yet extremely empowering too. Ultimately, we are challenging ourselves to be brutally honest about how we feel and how we want to progress in our lives.
How does Kinesiology help emotional wellbeing?
Kinesiology is a highly useful tool that not only rebalances our emotions but also finds the underlying contributors, as to why we may be feeling a particular way.
Subconscious belief systems or unresolved emotions combined with our conditioning and learned behaviour are undoubtedly a major reason why the relationship with ourselves and others may not be thriving. Suppressed emotions cause stress and disharmony in our emotional health. However, there are also many other reasons why our emotional compass might suffer.
Non-psychological reasons for anxiety and panic
Some of the non-psychological reasons that may cause feelings of anxiety, panic or depression include:
- Heavy metal poisoning
- Mineral deficiencies or toxicities
- Adrenal fatigue
- Pyroluria, asthma or allergies
- Fatty liver
- IBS or leaky gut
- Environmental toxins
- Metabolic disorders
The magic of Kinesiology is that even though we may not be feeling our best, we are able to look for causative reasons why we are not in optimal emotional health. Kinesiology can begin unravelling the layers that form the patterns ingrained in our body and mind. These are the emotional layers that keep us alive but do not necessarily allow us to thrive.
Many people are extremely detached from their emotions and view them as a “weaknesses”. It’s at this juncture that complications such as addiction and avoidance arise, which is referred to as emotional numbing.
How Kinesiology Challenges Emotional Difficulties
Kinesiology helps us challenge beliefs like the notion that ‘expressing vulnerability is being weak’. It enables us to re-examine our pre-held beliefs. If being vulnerable is scary, then surely it is a sign of courage and strength to choose to connect with that part of ourselves. If we can express our vulnerability safely and when we feel it, there may be an opportunity for a more honest interaction with another person. This type of internal emotional examination is incredibly powerful.
There is no escaping our emotions and feelings. We can deal with them, either by expressing or suppressing them. They have to go in some direction, as emotional responses will not magically ‘disappear.’ The problem with suppressing feelings is that not only can they cause illness but then can also emerge at ill-opportune moments.
I remember the time I had a kinesiology balance and my practitioner asked me what my real needs were. The fact was, I drew a complete blank. I felt an overwhelming inability to think or speak. I remember questioning myself; “who me?” “my needs?” At that moment, I felt that I was a non-existent person who lived in the shadows of other people’s needs. Catering to the desires of others first was completely normal to me. This kinesiology visit was an eye-opening experience and helped me look inward, to my emotional well-being.
As human beings, we live in fear of being in the spotlight, of succeeding and even frightful of achieving. Sometimes the thought of stepping into our innate gifts and talents that we all possess is truly terrifying. This is where Kinesiology is able to challenge our perceptions.
Kinesiology works with stress by actually dissolving it. When discussing emotional health, I don’t know any other modality that can so quickly and efficiently identify and release the deep layers of stress and conditioning that drive us. One of the reasons I love Kinesiology is that it can very quickly determine the “why” question, which is at the root of the underlying issue of emotional immaturity. When working with emotional health, it may be that we end up working on a variety of problems just in one balance. For example, it could be your life path, decision-making, fear, self-esteem, biochemistry, specific organs or toxins, just to name a few. And this is all in one balance!
